About CleftInject™

Built so adults born with cleft lip can finally find someone trained to help.

CleftInject™ is a non-profit organisation founded by Lindsay Owens to connect adults born with cleft lip to trained dermal filler practitioners who understand cleft anatomy, scarring, and the treatment planning needed for natural-looking balance.

The problem

The gap no one was really talking about.

Many adults born with cleft lip had corrective surgery as babies, but still live with asymmetry, scarring or confidence concerns. When they look for non-surgical options, they often hit the same wall: standard aesthetic training does not usually cover cleft lip anatomy.

  • Turned away locally

Told by injectors that their lip is outside the scope of standard treatment.

  • Told it’s “too complex”

Sent away without a clear explanation of who could actually help, or what to ask for.

  • Treated as a standard case

Booked in like a typical lip filler patient, when scar tissue and structure change everything.

Why CleftInject™ exists

One mission, two connected parts.

CleftInject™ was created to address the lack of specialist knowledge and access to treatment for adults born with cleft lip. The work happens in two places:

Practitioner reviewing a cleft-specific treatment plan
01For practitioners

Specialist training

CleftInject™ training teaches qualified aesthetic practitioners how to assess and treat adults with cleft lip — anatomy, scar considerations, and tailored treatment planning.

Meet the Founder

Founded by Lindsay Owens.

  • Level 7 injector
  • 8+ years clinical aesthetics
  • 5 years lip & reconstructive

Access shouldn’t depend on one person, one clinic, or one location. CleftInject™ was built to share specialist knowledge wider than any one practice could reach alone.

What makes us different

This is not standard lip filler.

Cleft lip treatment needs a different approach because the anatomy is different. Scar tissue, previous surgery, asymmetry, and structure all change how filler should be assessed and placed.

Standard lip filler training

May not cover…

  • Repaired cleft lip anatomy
  • Scar tissue behaviour
  • Previous surgical changes
  • Cleft-specific consultation and expectations
  • Structure-focused treatment planning

CleftInject™ training

Focuses on…

  • Anatomy-specific assessment
  • Scar considerations
  • Tailored treatment planning
  • Cleft-specific injection principles
  • Honest suitability, risk, and aftercare conversations

How it works

How patients find trained specialists.

The CleftInject™ directory is designed to make finding a trained practitioner simple, transparent, and free.

  1. Practitioners complete training

Qualified injectors complete CleftInject™ training in cleft-specific lip treatment.

  2. Credentials are reviewed

Training and qualification requirements must be met before specialists appear publicly.

  3. Patients search for free

Browse by location, view profiles, contact practitioners through their preferred channel.

  4. Waiting list if no one is nearby

If there’s no specialist in your area yet, register interest for future openings.

Our mission

What guides the work.

CleftInject™ is a non-profit organisation working to improve access to cleft-specific lip treatment for adults. Patients should be able to find practitioners who understand their anatomy, respect their experiences, and offer honest guidance about whether filler is suitable for them.

The directory is free for patients to use and requires no account. The purpose is not to create another generic aesthetics directory — it is to help adults born with cleft lip find trained practitioners while growing a wider network of specialists through education.

  • Specialist knowledge

Cleft lip anatomy is different. Patients deserve practitioners trained to understand that difference.

  • Realistic expectations

Treatment is explained honestly — suitability, risks, recovery, and individual results.

  • Patient access

The directory is free to use and designed to help patients find trained practitioners more easily.

  • Responsible growth

Grow by training qualified practitioners, verifying credentials, and expanding access carefully.
